After a short pandemic-induced break, the country’s largest crowdsourced, crowdfunded and open sourced music festival hits the ground running. Amongst the beautiful environs of Roaring Farm in Mumbai – the cultural tour de force returns with its community of fans, bands, musicians, artists and everyone who gives a damn about the independent cultural movement in this country. As always, we will bring you the freshest sounds, breaking genres, passionate fans, and the future of Indian alternative music and culture. We are 12 editions and 11 years old – and have featured over 180 Indian acts across 3 cities so far.

Control ALT Delete is the greenhouse where the future sounds of the Indian scene bloom. We have had everyone from MC Stan and Emiway to Divine and Naezy play at CAD in their early days before they broke out to national stardom.

Control ALT Delete 13’s artwork has been designed by the mad genius of Sanskar Sawant aka Chew’d Perfect. He follows a legacy of phenomenal designers like Aaquib Wani, thebigfatminimalist, Moebius, kidsquidy, Sajid Wajid Shaikh, and many more who have contributed their aesthetic to CAD over the years.

Our sponsors are our people – we value each and every contribution made, and each one is mentioned in our patrons list both online and on ground.

It doesn’t matter how much you can give, as long as you put a value to the music, art, and culture you will experience.

We have a strict no corporate control policy – we don’t do logos and we run purely on people’s love, time, effort, and money, instead of brand patronisation. It allows us to be fiercely independent, inclusive, and accepting of all cultural, political, and musical beliefs. We continue to be an open platform for people from all walks of life – irrespective of where they come from – and we believe the power of music binds us.

All of our accounts are public and transparent. You can see our cost sheets uploaded to the website after every edition. All money raised is equally distributed between all acts, irrespective of seniority and popularity. All profits go towards the performing acts. The entire CAD crew runs on a voluntary program and people work on this festival out of their free will.

We continue to be from the people, and for the people. Contribute NOW!

Why Contribute?

Control ALT Delete is the nursery of the Indian independent music scene. It is the ONLY music festival in the country that puts inclusivity ahead of scale and grandeur. We run on the core principles of INCLUSIVITY, TRANSPARENCY and EQUALITY.

Unlike other music and culture-led festivals, we do not run on corporate or individual patronage. We seek contributions from the music and cultural community – which includes fans, artists, organizers, fabricators, light and sound companies, art directors, designers, and more. We are for the people, and by the people.

Our vision is to make the industry more democratic and organic – empowering anyone with a love for the arts and organizational capabilities to go build their own scene instead of complaining about the lack of opportunities.

We run on a PAY WHAT YOU WANT policy. As scene kids who grew into the industry, we all have felt the brunt of being profiled at the gates of clubs and festivals. We do not want a person’s economic circumstance to dictate their love for the arts – we care about value – about the fact that the arts have value and that value needs to be seen and believed in by the fans. Our condition is simple – we don’t care how much you contribute, as long as you do. We want the fans and contributors to be stakeholders in the festival and see themselves as the key building block that makes this festival happen.

Once the festival is over – all the collected amounts are tallied, expenses accounted for, and profits calculated. All profits are split equally between performing artists and losses are borne by the organising committee. By making the accounts public, we aim to showcase a format or a formula by which anyone with a fierce love for their scene and basic organizational capabilities can build their own DIY models to fund and operate cultural programmes. Check out all our previous accounts here.

EVERY CONTRIBUTION gets something of value in return. From having their name up on our sponsors list, to bespoke merch, and even private gigs by selected bands – the amount contributed is correlated to the kind of returns you get.

This is the home of DIY culture – and being a part of CAD means being a part of pushing the cultural borders forward, hacking existing systems, and creating your own scenes on your own terms.
